OK so this part of pregnancy for me I didnt think was going to be hard or create any dramas. But it has stressed me out the most out of everything during this pregnancy so far. You are probably wondering if I am some crazy woman who has a name fetish or something, I dont! I thought like most people that choosing a name would be based on what my husband and I agreed on and what didnt cause too many problems with nicknames. ITS NOT THAT EASY!
Wanna know why? Because family tell you the name is horrible, other people who are no where near being pregnant, who dont even have a partner tell you that you can’t use particular names because they are “theirs”, opinions from friends and other people around you who you share your name choices with will matter to you no matter how much you tell yourself that whatever they have said is fine.
A solution? There are only two I can think of.
1. When telling someone your name choice prewarn them, tell them you dont want to know what their reasons are for liking or not liking it, you only want to know if they are for or against your name choice, also at the prewarn stage, let them know they cant tell you they have “dibbs” on that name and that if you want it you can have it. ( Unless the person has let you know at a prior stage that they want and love the name you are now trying to use.)
2. This solution will get rid of any of the above things happening.. DONT TELL ANYONE!!
