The countdown begins

3:16 am

In only 10 weeks I will officially be a mummy. Its amazing that it has gone so quickly and I feel so unprepared although I know that most of the things that I will need and have to get done are already done.
I have the nursery finished. It has been done in a baby looney tunes theme and looks wonderful, well I think it does!
I have clothes, the car seat and have most of my stuff to start packing a decent hospital bag. It worries me though, every night as I lay down to
sleep i start thinking about going into labour at that point in time and it freaks me out.
I havent packed my bag yet! What if i have forgotten something? What if I cant cope? So many what if’s. I know its all normal and that if I wasnt worried about any of this that I would have to be someone who is totally care free.

So the 10 week wait begins!!

Wish me luck!

How i knew i was pregnant…my symptoms

10:09 am

Ok, for those of you who want to read about real pregnancy symptoms instead of constantly seeing the sites which advertise that this this or this could be happening and give u false hope.. here are some of my actual pregnancy symptoms…please remember that these things can also be caused by other things and not just pregnancy and that a blood test is the best method of finding out if you are actually pregnant.

The first thing that happened to me was that my boobs were so sensitive that when i took off my bra after getting home from work it felt like weights had been strapped to my nipples and were pulling my breasts down the floor…. sounds exciting doesnt it hehe..

Second thing was of course that my period didnt come, but for me it didnt mean anything because I am irregular all the time and sometimes dont get them at all…but for those of you who get there period at the same time each month without a doubt, then its almost a sure fire sign unless that is u are stressed to the max! (stress can prolong the start date of ur menstrual cycle!)

THird thing was a urine test! CAme back with a big fat positive and from then on in I was pregnant ;) . A handy tip for some of u, pregnancy tests and also some ovulation tests will both work and come back as positive if you are pregnant. They dont detect the same hormone but for some reason pregnancy tests as well as ovulation tests will bring back those two lovely lines if its a positive. Also remember to get this confirmed by a GP who will request a blood test.

Hope that helps

Homemade baby foods - 6 months +

10:02 am

I am in the mood to start looking for foods that can be frozen to start preparing later on when baby can munch on some mushy foods Here are some of my favourites - expect one a week:

Chicken and Peach ;)
This recipe combines chicken with fruit - a combination that works surprisingly well … and particularly appeals to babies!

4oz cooked, boneless chicken, chopped
2oz cooked rice (you can use white or brown, but brown is more nutritious)
1 ripe peach
1 tbsp formula/breastmilk

Remove the skin and stone from the peach, then quarter.
Place the peach, chicken, rice and milk into a food processor .
Chop roughly - (this recipe is suitable for babies capable of chewing soft lumps).

Going to the SNOW!

9:58 am

Hey,

You are all probably wondering what i am on about, how can i possibly be thinking about taking a newborn to the snow? Just wanted to outline some information that has been passed onto me when talking about going to the snow with a baby.

Firstly, babies grow up and are born in snow conditions all the time, so why shouldn’t a baby be able to go there on a holiday?

I have been told to make sure the baby is warm (common sense) and to also make sure that you don’t go too high with altitudes as babies lungs are not as developed as adults and may have difficulties breathing.

So the reason I have chosen to book and go when my lil bubba will only be about 8 weeks old is to make sure that our lives continue, I know its going to be hard and different from what my hubby and I are used to but, we need to be able to go places as a family and why wait? I have holidays now, we have the money and its going to be our first vacation as a family.

How exciting !
